So Long 2012!

Seeing as I am getting really bad about updating this blog, I thought I'd go ahead and post my bye-bye 2012 post while I have a second.

Overall, 2012 was a great year. I can confidently say I overcame a lot, learned a lot and tried my best to appreciate the "small" things. I am hoping that 2013 brings exciting changes to my life as I graduate and (hopefully) get a job. This blog is sort of on the back burner right now but I am hoping, as my plans for post-grad life come together, I will be able to bring more exciting things to this blog.

For now, I will leave with a couple of my new favorite things.

- Easy-Squeezy Chai Tea Latte-

http://hostedmedia.reimanpub.com/TOH/Images/Photos/37/exps38675_SD1440070D64D.jpg

Travis's mom introduced me to this. Take one chai tea bag and steep in hot water. Remove tea bag and dollop with whipped cream. Seriously. The whipped cream sinks into the tea and makes it magically yummy.

- Almond Butter -

http://janeheller.com/mainlyjane/wp-content/uploads/2011/09/justins2.jpg

I was hesitant to try Almond Butter because I love PB with all my heart. But, wow, Justin's Almond Butter is the shiz. On toasted bread, on an apple, licked off a spoon, just eat it.

- Gone Girl -

http://d.gr-assets.com/books/1339602131l/8442457.jpg

This book is amazing. I have been enthralled with it from the beginning. Since the plot is so twisty-turny, I don't want to give anything away but I will just say it is basically about the demise of a marriage. I heard it is going to be made into a movie, so read it now! I am zipping through it and only have about 100 pages left, it is hard to put down.

- Django Unchained-

http://collider.com/wp-content/uploads/django-unchained-poster.jpg

Holy...I just can't even begin. This film rocks. It was a tad too long for my taste and could've wrapped things up a little quicker but if you are a Tarantino fan I highly recommend it. I know the subject matter can be considered offensive but all I can say is....slavery was offensive. Of course there are aspects that are hard to watch, but wow, amazing performances, fabulous music. I could go on.

My other favorite things right now: spending time with my family during winter break, catching up with friends who I don't get to see often enough, looking at Christmas lights with Travis, seeing all the fantastic movies that are out right now.

Happy New Year!

Ultimate Laziness

this is not just any nightstand my friends. this is my laziness at its finest. confession: i barely, if ever, wash my face at night. some may think thats gross but, i'll tell you what it really boils down too. it just so much effort when i'm sleepy. my solution is in my nightstand, and i'm ashamed yet impressed with myself for it. see that green thing in my drawer? those are wipey thingys that clean mah whiter than white complexion before i hit the hay. all i have to do is roll over to my nightstand, grab one and BAM, good to go.

in other news, i made this for dinner last night. parmesan crusted chicken, roasted asparagus and rice pilaf. yum scrum.

and finally, for a jew, i get really into christmas. i love all of it. right now i am writing a term paper with these little twinklies on and it is just so fab.

treat people nicely!

first off, travis, i am very sorry if you hate this picture but it is adorably funny and will hopefully offset any cheesy-ness in this post.

i have learned from travis that the way a guy treats waiters/waitresses or any other retail-type employee is very important. travis has been a waiter before and whenever he takes me out to eat he always...always makes sure to give our server a good tip unless they are disrespectful or something.

at cafe capri, this yummy italian place in downtown bryan, we had this waiter a few months ago who was really funny, knowledgable and attentive. as we were leaving travis made sure to go up and shake his hand and thank him for being so great. cute, right?

we went to cafe capri again this past Saturday and due to the home game traffic, we waited for about an hour to get a table and whaddyaknow, we got the same waiter again! this time he was much more stressed but still very nice, trav and I split a dish due to the massively delicious portion sizes there but travis felt bad that the waiter wouldn't be getting as good of a tip. so when our check came he went ahead and tipped him for the amount it would've been for two dishes.

as we were leaving, the waiter approached travis and said, "can I ask, are you a server?" travis said yes and the waiter said, "thank you so much buddy, you really understand, I appreciate it." that just gave me the warm fuzzies because travis treats everyone like that but doesn't often get to see the benefit.

so any single gals reading this, make sure you pay attention to how a dude treats strangers, I think it is very telling of how a guy will treat you.

and no, travis doesn't tip me but you know what i mean.

Halloween 2012

Long time no blog!

I really owe this post to Lauren for hinting to get my butt in gear and blog again. I also owe it to an extremely boring Saturday night where I am working on (avoiding) school work while most of my friendles are out of town or busy.

Halloween was a blast this year, we actually had our Halloween Date Party on Halloween so it felt extra special. Here is a quick summary of my night.

- Me and Travis went to Hobby Lobby to buy supplies for our costume, we were very excited to be so thrifty about our costume...but then couldn't resist the giant bags of candy near the checkout line, oh well.

- We went to dinner with a bunch of my pretty pretty pi phi friends and Abby (dressed as Megan from "Bridesmaids") made me laugh so hard I thought I was gonna puke. It was awesome.

- After dinner I had my first round of painful hiccups. Probably due to the marg and the laughter.

-Got fire ant bites while standing in the lawn waiting for the date party buses. My feet look like they have pimples all over them.

- Bus ride to the party was terrifying. Yellow school busses going 80 mph on country roads, not my thang. Imagine that scene in Willy Wonka where they are on that terrifying boat, only minus the colors...and the wonderment.

- Danced like a maniac/idiot with my friends. Honestly, this was probably the most fun date party ever. No one gave a crap about how crazy they looked. My kind of date party!

- Travis did some dance moves I've never seen before, like I don't think Travis has ever made me laugh that hard ever....I laughed really really hard, 2nd round of painful hiccups, while dancing.

- Got 3rd round of painful hiccups when Travis brought me home. Poor guy, I was being quite annoying with them, saying 'ow' every time I hiccuped. By this point he was over consoling me (can you blame him?)

- Slept like a baby

All in all, yes, quite a successful last Halloween as a college student. People either understood our costume (formal apologies) or...they didn't, but we really didn't care.

Exciting week this week, the election, going home early for Blake and Holly's wedding and hopefully lots of time with my mama, I miss her!

Pizza Pasta

I made this recipe on Sunday night and it was awesome. I got the recipe out of a magazine that also gives the nutritional info, it really isn't bad for you. I think the most important step, health-wise, is to use whole wheat or multi-grain pasta. Also, this is seriously the easiest dish to make, but once finished it looked like it took a lot more work.

Pizza Pasta

Serves 6

- 4 cups uncooked multigrain bow tie pasta-
-2 cans (14.5 oz. each) fire roasted diced tomatoes, undrained-
- 3/4 cup water-
- 12 slices turkey pepperoni, quartered-
-1 Tbsp. prepared pesto-
- 1/4 tsp. pepper-
- 3/4 cup shredded italian cheese blend-

Step 1: In a bowl, combine the uncooked pasta, tomatoes, water, pepperoni, pesto and pepper.
Step 2: Transfer mixture into a baking dish coated with cooking spray
Step 3: Cover and bake at 350 for 45 minutes.
Step 4: Stir pasta and bake for 15 more minutes or until pasta is tender.
Step 5: Top with cheese, then bake, uncovered for 4-6 minutes or until cheese is melted.

That's it! Sorry, I forgot to take a picture of how it turns out but I'm sure you can imaging...I mean, it's pasta..with tomatoes, cheese and pepperoni...

Moving on, here is the nutritional info as well.

1 and 1/4 cup serving equals:

318 Calories
7g fat
15 mg cholesterol
584 mg sodium
47 g carbohydrate
5 g fiber
16 g protein

I'm Done!

Well...that went by fast. Somehow, I finished my internship last Friday! It was a great experience and I learned so much about public relations. I just can't believe how fast the summer has gone. I feel so boring because my summer went something like this:

-sleep-
-work out-
-eat-
-go to work-
-repeat-

But oh well, I guess this is a preview of life post-college? I do like a good routine I guess ;)

Now, I have a week of "summer" also known as, oh s*** I didn't do anything to get ready for moving back to College Station!!!!!

Music, Movies, TV

My watching/listening habits change all the time, especially depending on the season. On top of that, I would say I have a very...eclectic taste. Here's my recent picks:

-Movies-

Beasts of the Southern Wild

Holy cow, this movie is moving, funny, inspiring and heartbreaking all at the same time. I would say it is a less artsy "Tree of Life." I hate crying in movies, it's a story for another time, but I'll just say that in this movie I was crying until the credits rolled at the end. Partly it was the story, but it was more because the lead character, Hushpuppy, was so damn talented and the score was so gorgeous and I knew that this was an up and coming director so it just made me so happy to think how proud he must be of this. Ok- I am stopping my pretentious rant, but go see this!!

Then, on the other end of the spectrum, we have....

Katy Perry: Part of Me

Yeah. I saw it, what are you gonna do about it? It was fluffy and sparkly, just the kind of movie you want to see in the summer. I've always thought Katy Perry was a cool chick, this movie reaffirmed it. The movie accomplishes its goal; making you smile and then want to go buy all of Katy Perry's music.

-Music-

This is where it gets crazy ya'll. Here's what my spotify has looked like at work.

Beach House
Local Natives
Best Coast
Simon & Garfunkel
Katy Perry
Kid Cudi
The Mama's & The Papas
Daniel Tosh comedy albums
Elton John
Billy Joel
No Doubt

I don't know why but I've really wanted to go back and listen to all the music my parents played for me when I was little. Thus, Elton John, Simon & Garfunkel and Billy Joel. Duh I had to listen to my No Doubt albums since they just released their new single. Embarrassing story time: I was so obsessed with No Doubt that I bought a necklace from their website that boasted the words "Rock Steady" and wore it a lot.

-TV-

YOU GUYS. I am mooching off of Travis's Netflix account, finally! So here is my TV list. Again, random.

The City
Friday Night Lights
Kell on Earth

Yeah.

A Weekend for Friends and No Cable

This past weekend was great. Unfortunately, at home, my Dad was sick all weekend and our cable/internet was out. I hate that I rely on those things so much but at the same time, it made for a crabby Dad and a very boring house. So I had lots of time to catch up with friends!!! I thought I would just share some friend love today.

On Friday night, I got to hang out with my former roomie and longtime friend Sarah.

All we did was sit in her kitchen and talk, but it was just what I needed. It is always nice to have a friend you can talk to...I mean, really talk, about the big stuff. I don't mean to imply that Sarah and I can't also be ridiculously silly with each other (cause trust me, we can) but, I can also talk to her about all the chatter that's in my brain sometimes. Hopefully I am that way for her too. It was great to spend Friday night catching up.

Saturday day and Saturday night, I spent with these two rascals.

Lauren, the deary on the left, had never been to Highland Park Pharmacy (an old-fashioned lunch counter) so we went there first and then I took them to my new favorite boutique, Milk & Honey. It doesn't matter what I do with these two, I always end up laughing so hard I cry a little and/or we get into some conversation about awkward things you can only talk to your closest friends about. That night, Lauren and I sat in Starbucks and talked about all the big change that will happen once we graduate from college. It is scary stuff to talk about but always easier to go through when you know someone else feels the same way. Then we picked up Ashley, ahem...I mean, made Ashley drive us around to...a house who's location shall remain secret....thanks for driving Ash :)

Sunday afternoon I had a long overdue "phone date" with Marie.

Marie was my first friend at A&M. She immediately befriended me in a way I will be forever thankful for. On the surface, we may not seem very similar, but the more I talk to her, I realize that we have a lot in common. Marie makes me want to be a better friend. She would rather talk on the phone than text, and she loves handwritten letters. These are two things I also love but have recently stopped doing, for no reason other than being "too busy." But getting to know Marie has reminded me that you can never be too busy to go the extra mile if it means being a good friend. Also, she is the only friend I can talk about needlepoint with, so I'll keep her around.

Welp, that was my weekend! Now, I am gearing up for some supa fun celebrating for the 4th of July. Hopefully I will remember to lug my camera around everywhere, I gotta hop back on the photography train.

Father's Day and BEYONND!!!!

Father's day in my house is pretty laid back. My Mom and I cooked up a breakfast feast. We began by baking blueberry muffins (My Dad's favorite), and then I cooked sausage while my Mom made hashbrowns. To top off our little brunch, we made scrambled eggs to go along with it. For the rest of the day we were happy and full, Dad got to watch the US Open with my brother and it was a good day for everyone. Sometimes I think you need to make Sunday a "mental health day."

Then, today, because the office I am interning at has done so well for the past fiscal year, we got to close shop the second half of the day and go to lunch and to whirly ball (via escalade limo, oh yeah!). It was really fun to mingle with everyone in a more casual setting. Also, whirly ball is FUN people. If you don't know, it is bumper cars, basketball and lacrosse all rolled into one. I am pretty sure I was smiling the whole time because everyone just looked so silly.

This weekend I am so excited because Travis is coming in town and he wants to see "Bernie" so I will happily watch it a second time. (P.S Trav if you see this, I am hoping tex-mex and margaritas will be involved????).

No pictures this time, just a lot of words so I remember stuff that happens.

Bernie

Long story short: If you live in, or are from Texas, you must see this film.

Based on a true story, Bernie is about a man (named Bernie) who, in a nutshell, befriends an elderly woman and then murders her. That's really all the information you need to know going into the movie. This is Jack Black's finest performance, he is Bernie, I am not typically a Jack Black fan but after seeing him in this, I am starting to think people don't use his talent like they should. He is fabulous, enough said. They use interview people from Carthage, TX who know the real Bernie and it really adds authenticity to the story. On top of that, there is nothing like small town Texas people.

Sidenote: One of the actors who plays a townsperson (and delivers some of the best lines in the whole movie) is Sonny Carl Davis, an actor that came to my film class last year for a Q&A about one of his first films, "The Whole Shootin' Match." He was probably one of the most entertaining people to listen to and it was cool to see him in this movie.

I don't need to type more about this...just go see "Bernie"!!!!

Da Weekend

This weekend was much needed. Friday was a bit stressful at work and on top of that, Travis came home for the weekend and I have missed him terribly. I know that is sappy and whatever but, I can't help it. So the weekend was spent catching up with him.

Friday night I went to dinner with Travis and his family. We had to go to Dunston's because Grace just started working there and Travis is pretty much a superstar at Dunston's ever since he worked there. Naturally, I got a cheeseburger and tater tots. Let me just say people, the cheeseburger and tots is $4.50 and one of the best meals eh-ver. It was kind of fun watching Grace do her thing and any outing with Travis's family is an exciting one.

Saturday night was also a fun one. Travis and I went on a date! I think this was our first actual date of the whole summer if I'm not mistaken. Other than that he has either been at school or we have seen each other for quick visits during the week. BLAH!

Then we went back to his house and took a walk over to a park by his house. (With tootsie pops in hand).

I'm sad he has to go back to school, I know he is a little lonely down there by himself but alas, it's necessary. I am just glad that I got to spend some time with him at all!

Tomorrow, it is back to my 'cube' BUT before then, my family is making po'
boys tonight, homemade french bread and everything! yes yes yes

Quote

"Introverts, in contrast, may have strong social skills and enjoy parties and business meetings, but after a while wish they were home in their pajamas. They prefer to devote their social energies to close friends, colleagues, and family. They listen more than they talk, think before they speak, and often feel as if they express themselves better in writing than in conversation..." - S.C. Quiet

I don't even know who S.C Quiet is but this quote is my personality in a nutshell, so I wanted to document it somewhere.

Big ol' post

Are you there May? It's me, Erin! Where did May go? Seriously though...

Anyways,  here's a big fat slab of meaty bloggy woggy goodness of what I have been up to recently...

I got to have dinner and watch Portlandia (best.show.ever) with my hilarious and awesome friend Meg, you should read her tumblr if you haven't yet, I aspire to write my wacky thoughts as clearly as she does. I feel we were cut from the same cloth (both slight hypochondriacs, get goosebumps at the mere mention of Downton Abbey etc.)

Whilst cleaning out my room a couple weeks ago, I found this treasure.
"Dear Erin,
How are you? Do you like your teacher? Do you like your teacher? <3 Ashley "
This was sent sometime during elementary school, the repetition slays me. She was so nice to decorate the border. (read her blog!)

Nope. I refuse to believe my baby brother is 17. No amount of facial hair, muscle mass or vocal changes will stop me from seeing him as my baby brother. If you don't know Jonathan, you should. He may seem very serious on the outside, but he is just one funny, loving and caring goofball.

My dad was out of town for a few days so my mom and I were bad and went to Pinkberry for dinner. Having frozen yogurt as a meal makes me feel rebellious these days. Wild life of a 21 year old amiright?? (P.S. how gorgeous is my mother?? Seriously glowing)

New selfie. I never take pictures of myself for some reason. When I do, I can't bring myself to make a serious face, so here I am...a dash of myspace pouting combined with a sprinkling of "the skinny arm"

My mom was cleaning out some old binders at the middle school, and she found a detention slip for Travis in there. He was in advisory playing with Tim, I guess his teacher wasn't having it. Don't worry, my mom took it so that she could give it to Travis. Not to boast but...I never got detention in school, ever :)

And that is how it goes!

Update

Seeing as I haven't done anything on this blog in awhile, I thought for my sake I'd try to remember some things that have happened recently.

- the weekend after I came home we got to go to New Orleans to visit family, eat a lot of cajun food and play with my little cousins-

- I started my internship and feel to grown up (for another post)-

- I got to set up for Blake and Holly's engagement with three of my favorite people, we were all a litte jittery about the impending excitement, it was a fun memory to share-

- I was also handed the task of taking picture's of the actual proposal which was so fun but I was kind of bummed because some of my pictures turned out blurry (at one point, I asked Travis to hold my arms because I was shaking from excitement..hence, blurry pictures)-

- Finally I was reunited with Lauren and Ashley this past friday night, laughter and chatting ensued-

- Blake asked Travis to be his best man, I am so excited for him!!!-

And those are just some of my mumble-jumbled thoughts, I will probably read this tomorrow and catch a zillion typos.

So, here's the thing.

Blogging involves being on a computer.

My internship requires being on a computer.

When I get home, I don't really want to be on a computer.

My blog may be quiet for a little while.............

Casa de Pi Phi

Things I will miss about living in the Pi Phi house:

Everyone being in one place

Eating delicious food

Not having to prepare said delicious food

Having a different person to talk to at all times

Being able to walk downstairs for meeting instead drive

The snacks in the mini kitchen

All of the random things that happen (that's super vague but I don't know how else to put it)

Having a workout room

Having a birthday in the house

Things I will NOT miss about living in the Pi Phi house:

Wearing shoes in the shower

The freezing cold temperature they keep the house at

Having to poop in a specific toilet

When people are loud but you are trying to sleep

That dryer that takes forever in the laundry room

Not being able to make my own food

Limited privacy

How stinky the mini kitchen got during the weekends

I really will miss it though. That was the one time in my life where I got to share a house with 50 people that I know. Also, not only have Sarah and I known each other since 7th grade, now we have been roommates too. There are only a few people you can say that about, glad it's her! Last night, we got to sneak Travis up to our room to sign our fan. I think it is fun that Travis is special to both of us.

Alas, it is good to be back in Casa de Kanter, where I can poop in any toilet I want.

Birthday Post!

I apologize in advance if this post is long/wordy, I am really doing this for myself so that I can remember everything!

At midnight, as in 12:00 am on my birthday, I was downstairs studying for my exams and everyone else that was down there sang me happy birthday. Living with 50 girls has its fun advantages, that was one of them!

Then, I walked up to my room and sweet Shannon had bought me flowers and wrote me a little birthday note!

When I woke up the next morning, I got right to studying (blegh) but then Travis picked me up to take me to lunch and then we decided it would be fun to go to Spec's and look around. When we got there he handed me his debit card and said, "pick out whatever you want and I'll get it for you." Of course, I am the most naive person when it comes to alcohol so I just called my Mom and asked, "hey, what's that stuff I like?" The point of me having the debit card was so I could do the obligatory handing over my ID to the cashier thing.

Me and my first purchase: Beringer White Zinfandel

When Travis drove up to the Pi Phi house, I got a call from Crush cupcakes asking me when would be a good time to drop off a delivery my parents had sent. I was so surprised but, I thought they were sending me one cupcake. Boy was I wrong, when I got to the door, there were THREE DOZEN cupcakes. They wanted everyone to share in the fun!!!

Vanilla, Red Velvet & Chocolate cupcakes!

It made me so happy that everyone got to have a treat. It also helps that everyone who lives here is gracious and wanted me to thank my parents, how sweet!

Oh my gosh this is too long but I want to document it somewhere! OK-so then I got to talk to my grandma, open my birthday card from my family and not concentrate. At 4 I had a little happy hour at Chuy's where I gulped down a deelish strawberry margarita (on the house) and had fun chatting with everyone for a little while.

After happy hour, Travis took me to dinner at a new Mexican place called Lupe Tortilla where we got to eat yummy fajitas. I was starting to feel sleepy already from my margarita so all I really said while we ate was "oh my gosshhhh, this is so yummy"

Travis and I went back to the house to study for our final we had together today, I was so tired that I was deep asleep by 11:30 last night.

If you made it this far, you rock. This was one of the best birthdays I have had in awhile. I felt so loved and I got to spend time with great people, eat good food and have a tasty drink. My hope for this next year of my life is to be thankful, be more appreciative of what I have. I know that a lot of change is going to happen but I hope I can always look at the bright side. (ok, I know that was cheesy)

I get to see my parents tomorrow, go on a 'fancy' birthday date tomorrow night and I'm done with finals  Monday, YIPPEE!!!!!

Only Travis...Part 2

Last night, my friend Marie texted me that her mom had sent her a care package that was waiting at the MSC for her between 10-3 tomorrow. Since Travis and I are on campus at the same time we decided on going after class so we could look at the new MSC and pick up her stuff. Well, Travis did not want to go to his math class (who would? Numbers?..blegh) so he begged to be able to walk to the MSC and get Marie's care package instead of class/waiting for me. I mean, twist my arm, I said "go ahead!"

When I was out of class, I didn't see Travis waiting outside my classroom and I felt a little confused.A moment later, I saw him walk down the hallway with a big smile on his face.

"So, I went to the room where the care packages were and there was like, a whole room full of moms handing out snacks and stuff. And I went through the line to pick up Marie's stuff and saw that after you get your care package you go down this line of like, ten moms who just give you a hug and wish you luck on your finals. So i was like, 'oh, I am just picking this up for a friend' and the lady said, 'ok, well you can do whatever you want!' so I just went down the line of moms and hugged them all, they were so nice!"

All I can picture is Travis laughing, smiling and chatting with each mom as they gave him a hug. Just as the title says...only Travis!!

My Weekend Plans

This weekend, every person I know of that I would have the possibility of hanging out with will be out of town. An older Pi Phi is getting married this weekend so half of the house is gone for that, my friend Shannon is going home, my little (Brooke) is busy this weekend with her Dad coming to town and Travis is going to nocturnal (a music festival thingy).

So, I will be having a whole lot of Erin time in this giant house of Pi Phi. However, I have a paper, three study questions, extra credit and online Spanish that I need to work on over the weekend so I am kind of ok with this lack of plans. I am going to try to keep myself busy and get work done, it will be good but it is just a weird feeling that no one is here right now.

I plan to eat a lot (my mom just sent me a finals care package so I am all set with snackies), catch up on TV during study breaks, catch up on some much needed sleep and maybe even workout.

Jealous? (it is very much ok if you aren't)

A couple of things

-First off, right here, right now, I vow to use my camera more often, I need to document things more and also, I have a fancy shmancy camera to do that with, ugh!-

-Last week, at the good ol' mall here in College Station, I walked by Claire's and saw a girl getting her ears pierced by a lady who looked equally terrified, both had their faces all scrunched up and I am pretty sure the lady doing the piercing had her eyes closed-

-I turn 21 next week, holy guacamole!!!!!-

Where I talk about dorky health things...

I didn't want to blog about this at the beginning of the month because usually, "30-day" type challenges don't stick but now that its closer to May, I'll budge.

So, for the month of April I decided to give up sodas and try my hardest to give up sweets unless it was a special occasion. Also, Travis gave up sodas and fast food (boy can eat his fair share of fast food...no offense). This wasn't any type of weight loss thing it was more that on the weekends I have a habit to kinda...overdo it when it comes to stuff I really shouldn't be eating. Yet, I am really interested in nutrition and all that stuff. I don't really know why this happens but, oh well.

Anyways, so far, so good! I don't even crave sodas at the moment, I have become more mindful of when I am hungry and I am starting to realize when I should actually indulge in something sweet. I have a huge sweet-tooth so this is big. And Travis? He hasn't really craved a soda either and he says he feels a whole lot better now that he isn't eating fast food (we said chik-fil-a was still ok because I kinda think its the lesser evil).

I cannot claim to be the healthiest eater though, I mean living in a sorority house...we eat like kings(er, queens?) every day. For example, todays lunch? King Ranch Chicken Mac 'n cheese. Yummmm, I had two helpin's!

I just got tired of feeling gross after eating really sugary things. I hope I can keep this up, I really do feel better and I apologize if this post was super boring to read...if anyone out there even reads this thang.

lil' letters

Dear Alyssa (my HOSTS kid this semester),
Today was our last day of HOSTS and, I'm sorry to say this, but I am quite happy. You were not a fan of me and to be quite honest, today I just gave up and asked you about why you love Justin Beiber so much instead of making you read. At least we got a cute picture together!

Dear College Station weather today,
Make up your mind, if you are gonna paint ominous clouds across the sky that are awesome shades of navy and purple, at least DO something with it, ya dig? Feelin' a little cheated in the storm department.

Dear Sarah,
I just needed to document somewhere that we spent a good bit of time trying to figure out how our beds would sound if they could speak. Twas awesome.

Dear Grub,
Your burgers, fries and shakes are deelish. I really, really like you.

Dear Dining Room in the Pi Phi House,
You are like soooooooooooooo cold. Seriously. I wear winter clothes everyday and then get weird looks when I step outside the house and realize its spring and I am wearing socks, a sweatshirt and jeans.

I have had quite the week!

This week has been such a whirlwind.
When I came back from easter, I was in a funk, I have been searching for some sort of internship for the summer since...January. Things were falling through and I was sort of at a breaking point until a call on Tuesday that turned it all around.

Long story short, I went to Dallas for less than 24 hours, interviewed with a company, got the position within an hour and a half of interviewing, came back to school, took an exam, finished up another section of online spanish and...now I am here. What the heck? This has been a week I will be grateful for, everything sort of adjusted itself perfectly into place so that I could go back home and it was just...nice. Boring word but, lots of excitement behind it, promise!

to leave on a more exciting note, I took this photo of myself after trying on red lipstick. I just...can't take a serious picture of myself, it feels weird I guess, so...this was the product. Maybe that should be a goal for myself, "try to learn how to pose normally when taking a picture of yourself"...? I could probably add that skill to my resume...or something.

Pinkberry

On Friday night, I was having a bummer of an evening. So, after dinner (and after a good rant), I told my Mom I was craving fro-yo and we decided on Pinkberry. We sat outside and just chatted. The weather was beautiful and it wasn't crowded. We didn't really talk about anything monumental, and this post isn't really supposed to be monumental. I guess I just want to blog about how my Mom took me to Pinkberry and it was just plain fun. I love that lady more than life itself my friends, I just want to remember all the random and fun things we do and/or have done.

Austin.

On Friday, Travis and I went to go see Eisley play in Austin. It was so much freakin' fun.

We ate at hopdoddy (2 cheeseburgers & an order of fries por favor!) and it was deelish. I highly recommend eating there, I only wish we had enough room in our tummies to try their milkshakes, I'm getting hungry just thinking about them.

As usual, Eisley was fabulous, Merriment was dreamy and Tallhart was awesome. Seriously, those guys had so much energy and just genuinely looked like they were having a great time playing music together, so refreshing to see.

The best part was that the venue was so small that we got to rub shoulders with all the cool band peeps, they were all gracious and sweet.

Hope everyone had a great weekend and caught up on some Zzz's (I know I did)!
