Oscar Time!

The Oscars are coming up on Sunday and I have seen most (if not all) the films,
so here are my predictions for the big night! I was pretty close on all the Golden Globe awards!

Actor In a Leading Role:
- Colin Firth in "The Kings Speech"-

Actor In a Supporting Role:
- Christian Bale in "The Fighter"-
(even though Geoffrey Rush was AMAZING in Kings Speech)

Actress in a Leading Role:
- Natalie Portman in "Black Swan"-

Actress in a Supporting Role:
- Melissa Leo in "The Fighter"-

Animated Feature Film:
-"Toy Story 3"-

Directing:
- huge toss-up between "The Social Network", "The King's Speech" and maybe "Black Swan"-
but I pick Tom Hooper for "The King's Speech"

Music (Original Score):
- "The Social Network" -

Music (Original Song):
- "We Belong Together" by Randy Newman for "Toy Story 3" -

Writing (Adapted Screenplay):
- Aaron Sorkin for "The Social Network" -

Writing (Original Screenplay:
- David Seidler for "The King's Speech" -
OR
- Lisa Cholodenko for "The Kids are All Right" -

Best Picture:
- "The King's Speech"-

No huge surprises but for Writing/Directing I think there could be one.

We shall see how many I guess correctly!

Homesick.

I haven't been truly homesick at all this school year which is so great
but,
now, I have it bad.

I don't really know why, I guess these last couple weeks have been a doozy, I've been sick twice since I've been back this semester and my classes are pretty time consuming so far.

So Mom, this is a list of things we will be doing when I come home:

- Eating
- Shopping
- Going to JD's
- Getting my nails done
- Taking pictures of my baby brother before Hilites
- Watching the Oscars
- More Eating
- More Shopping
-Sleeping

I AM SO EXCITED TO GO HOME! Three nights in Dallas never sounded so good.

And now: Here are some photos I took at a cool antique shop in downtown Bryan.

My Funny Valentine

*Warning: This post may be lengthy/TMI*

So as you all can tell from my recent post, I LOVE Valentine's Day with all my heart!
Obviously I was excited for my Valentine to take me out Monday night!

My Valentine showed up with these:

And made me (yes, as in homemade) these:

And we were off to a lovely dinner date at a restaurant here. We didn't love our food but we were having fun talking and goofing off so it didn't matter. After dinner, we polished off those strawberries, watched some TV and called it a night as I was getting extremely sleepy, almost a little to sleepy.

Then the horror.

I went to sleep feeling very full (not necessarily in a good way) and woke up an hour and a half later to me on the verge of, well, "returning" my food. So I proceeded to hang out with my porcelain friend for a bit which was weird because I haven't had that kind of visit since, no joke, first grade.

I left the bathroom to text my Valentine about what happened  but sure enough he had already texted me saying he had just done the same thing! Yes people, we both got food poisoning on one of my favorite times of year. It was still a lovely date though, and we texted each other all night about our respective horror stories which was funny and..gross.

So I spent all day Tuesday laying in my bed watching "The Bachelor" on Hulu. If you know me, you know I really don't like that show, so obviously something was up.

Long story short, since I ate more at dinner I have been sick longer, I lost 6 pounds in 24 hours, I sitll haven't eaten a real meal yet and it's Thursday. My Valentine was healed by the next morning (eating doughnuts and O.J as his first meal, GROSS!).

Was this all the Valentine's day haters coming back to get me? I hope not.

This week has sucked the life out of me, literally, but I couldn't have picked a better Valentine to share my little incident with!

More to post later when I'm back to my full self!

Snow Day

FINALLY, College Station got to experience a little bit of winter and school was promptly cancelled!
A snow day is just what the doctor ordered.
I spent my day off relaxing...and that's it. I was going to take pictures of the snow but,
there really isn't much.

In other news, like my new background?
I'm just getting in the holiday spirit. I love Valentines day! I don't really know why, I never do anything really grand on Valentine's but I think I get my love for it from my mom.
Her favorite shape is a heart, her favorite color is red and her birthday is the day before.
Exhibit A:

So, naturally, she loves it.
We even send out "Valentine's Cards" instead of Christmas cards, "Just to be fun" as my Mom says.
She would always give me and my brother a little gift like a book or a movie (and usually a slice of leftover white birthday cake with white frosting) so I have fond memories of Valentine's day growing up, I think it is kind of sad when people call it "Single's Awareness Day" I think of it more as a family day actually!

People should be a little more enthusiastic about that day! I think it celebrates many types of love, not just romantic! And isn't that what life is all about? Loving people the best you can?
I think so.

My challenge to you, few readers, is to enjoy Valentine's Day! Wether you're single or dating, enjoy the day for what it celebrates, give your friends some chocolate and a hug, if you have a Valentine then tell them how much they mean to you, tell your family you love them, do something nice for yourself too and sport pink or red garb.

And Mom, I am glad you made Valentine's so fun growing up, I hope I can keep that up!

Long time...no post.

I have surfaced for a brief moment to catch my breath before sinking back down into the academic pool.
Cool, that was so "creative writing" of me.
I am in that class ya know ;)

But seriously, this semester is going to be lengthy.

Some things:

- I almost heard the entire secret to "Pretty Little Liars" today. It would've been bad. I chewed my food as loud as I could to drown out the girl blabbing about it.

- Some person in my creative writing class was rude to me today, guess they don't call it a cold snap for nothing!

- I'm really jealous that Dallas had a snowday today. I think A&M could use one.

- Why is everyone so obsessed with The Bachelor?

- I would like to personally teach teenage girls how to speak, or more importantly, how to move their lower jaw so that words sound more clear.

- I miss my puppy so here is a picture of her.

Happy week, and stay warm!
