Summer...Week One

I haven't blogged in a little over a week, my sincerest apologies go out to my three readers ;)

Here is what I have been doing my first week of summer:

- Got hired at my summer job
- Went bowling in College Station
- Went to lunch at the most delicious restaurant, "Maddens"in downtown Bryan
- Moved home
- Started a maymester math class from 9-12:15 (it sucks)
-And on Friday I start my job!

So I have done quite a bit! Hence, the lack of blogging. I'm now in Starbucks sipping a caramel macchatio and attempting to study for my first math test. Isn't this supposed to be summer? Oh well, my summer will start on June 2nd!

P.S it was a huge mistake to go to the Highland Park Village Starbucks because now I can't stop people watching.

Louis Wain.

Have you heard of him?
I learned about him in my film history class in regards to postmodernism. His story is very intriguing and freaky, so I thought I'd share. Louis Wain was an English artist who specialized in drawing animals and serene country life. He also frequently drew anthropomorphized (giving human characteristics to non-human things) cats

Cute right? For the next thirty years he became a pretty influential artist. Then, at the beginning of the 1900's, his popularity started to decline, his mother passed away and he had no money. He had always been considered a nice guy but just a little "off." But then, he started behaving in erratic ways all of the sudden. He began having delusions, locking himself in his room to write incoherently and he became hostile towards his own sisters saying, "the cinema screen has robbed the electricity from their brains."

His sisters couldn't handle him anymore so they admitted him to a mental hospital where he was diagnosed with schizophrenia (which may have been triggered by a parasite). Wain continued to paint and his work that follows is all representative of his progression into insanity.

And here is a montage of it all...

These paintings are frequently shown in psychology classes because it is such a vivid example at the kind of mental wildness that schizophrenia causes. It's kind of scary but at the same time so fascinating that he couldn't visualize a "normal" cat through his illness.

Looking Forward to Summer.

So I can squeeze my mama...

(P.S this was Zoe as a 'lil puppy! Such a cutie!)

So I can see my dad sitting in his usual spot on the couch every night with Zoe around his neck...

So I can eat delicious homemade meals like this one...

Oh and don't worry, I did not forget about you brother, you are so adorable...

So I can see these two later on in the summer!

Only 3 finals stand in my way from these things!

Blog Love.

Here's some advice: The best way to procrastinate during finals is to read blogs.

And today, I shall share with you three of my very favorite blogs!

1) nieniedialogues- this was the blog that got me into the blogging world. Stephanie Nielson and her husband Christian have four kids and she has blogged since about 2005. In 2008 they were in a plane crash that left Stephanie with 80% of her body burned. But this is no tear-jerker kinda blog. It's uplifting, positive and funny. Go read it, you'll love it.

2) Rockstar Diaries- my friend Sarah introduced me to this one. Oh the fashion, oh the photography, oh the couple cuteness. Just go read it.

3) Todays Letters- this one is really addicting. This couple (who lives in Dallas, woohoo!) writes letters to each other everyday and now the wife made a blog out of it! It's really something special. They are an adorable couple and the pictures they post are pretty. Maybe I'll run into them when I go home this summer? I mean, who knows!

I think this is a nice intro, maybe I'll add more later?

Birthday!

My 20th Birthday was a really fantastic one. I do wish I had been able to see friends but it's finals week 'round these parts, so its a little stressful!

So on my birthday, Travis took me to lunch. We picked up food and went to the park for a sophisticated picnic...involving sammiches and a playground.

After we ate, we had a birthday "photoshoot"

The rest of my birthday was spent studying, relaxing and blowing out birthday candles on a slice of carrot cake. (note the "birthday princess" ribbon I'm wearing)

Then, last night, we saw ARCADE FIRE!!!!!! 13 rows from the pit. It was AMAZING. It was one of the best concerts I have ever seen. They are such great performers and seem very down to earth. Not only that but, we saw them in The Woodlands which is where Winn Butler grew up and it's the place their album "The Suburbs" is about!

This is how close we were, no zoom! "Coming Soon: Arcade Fire"

My birthday was a blast! I am a lucky girl.

My Last Day as a Teen

and as you can see, I am SO immature. Ugh, teenagers. AMIRIGHT?!

At the stroke of midnight, I will transform into a poised 20-yeard old (actually, I'm turning into a Princess)
